What Does Truth Ministry Offer?

Counseling
Truth Ministry offers one-on-one, "experience-based biblcal counseling." We counsel from the Word of God and out of the knowledge gained from personal study and our own personal experiences, having left the homosexual lifestyle. Our counsel is based on the fact that we are each called to live as Christ's followers and since we have walked the road of restoration ourselves, we now lead others down this path. We believe that our counsel on the subject of homosexuality, as well as sexual and relational brokenness in general, is both practical and Biblical. Each of us who counsel have studied much of the known psychological and Christian-based materials.
We also readily agree that professional counseling is sometimes a valuable tool that God will use, and we are committed to referring individuals to a licensed professional counselor as necessary. If you know of a well qualified counselor, that would be good for us to refer to, please let us know. Staff at Truth Ministry are not licensed counselor, nor do we imply this in any way. One of our staff members is a LPC, but is not currently practicing in this capacity. We also have an indirect LPC that works with the ministry, as well as several to whom we refer and seek counsel from.
Support Groups
We understand that men, women, adolescents, and family members all have a common need to develop a healthy understanding of the struggle with homosexual thoughts, feelings, and daily struggles.
For some, it may be awkward to be a part of a group, but through a group atmosphere, we seek to allow participants the opportunity to receive support and encouragement from one another. We desire to provide a confidential, safe place to share about struggles and provide authentic, healthy friendships in an environment that fosters personal growth, and most importantly encourages each participant to maintain a right relationship with God.
Our support groups meet weekly in Upstate, SC, and Western, NC. If you are interested in becoming a part of any of our support groups, please contact us for more information.
For details on specific groups and locations, go to the Happenings tab. Locations and times are only given out once an initial counseling appointment has been completed. Truth reserves the right to keep some from participating from their programs.
Speaking Engagements
Truth Ministry offers a Speakers Bureau within most of our staff as a resource to the community and the church. We are available for media interviews and speaking engagements. We will be glad to speak to your church or organization. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about God's life changing power.
Prison Ministry
Truth is one of the few ministries in the country that offers help to inmates with same-sex attraction. We provide inmates written correspondence and a virtual support group through written letters. It is our desire to visit each inmate personally, regardless of distance, and as part of this visit, to minister to the entire prison population. This ministry is led by Michael Harris (see staff page). |
