A young man I have been working with for the last year was in 10th grade when his parents first contacted us. He had gotten involved in homosexual pornography and wanted help, but was afraid at first. He created an anonymous email account and contacted his pastor without his pastor knowing his identity. He emailed his pastor saying that he was a young man in the church needing help. He remembered that I had spoken at his church but couldn't remember the ministry name or my name. His pastor gave him our website, and he went online to read about us. He then sat down with his parents and told them everything, and said that he needed for them to bring him to Truth Ministry for help. While this young man has a difficult time bringing his thoughts to words, he is one of the most courageous young men that I have ever encountered. As I have suggested, he has already started engaging with young men in his church and shares personally with them regarding vulnerable things happening in his life. We recently received this note from his mother with permission to publish it anonymously.
Since I'm not able to bring Andrew to the meetings right now, I thought I'd share a little positive news with you. Before Andrew revealed his homosexual feelings with us and started working with you, he had withdrawn over the course of two or three years, and he had been suppressing much of his personality. Basically, he seemed sort of depressed, but at that time, I didn't know what was going on. Now, having revealed his secret and working with you, he is very much his "old" self again as he was when he was a youngster. He laughs and smiles and jokes again.
McKrae, I am so thankful to you and to your ministry! You have been a "God send" to my family, and I honestly don't know what we would have done if we had not been able to turn to you for counseling. I believe strongly in Truth Ministry, and when I can, I'd love to support your ministry in a bigger, better way. I believe your ministry is greatly needed, and I'd love to see it grow to where you have more resources and can reach more individuals who are struggling.
In Christ,
A thankful mom
(Andrew is not the son's real name)
