SPARTANBURG, SC (January 12, 2010) - Helping people like Lucas Walsh (read his story here) is what Truth Ministry is ALL about. You will notice that the focus of our ministry is the Lord Jesus, not Truth Ministry or any one organization. He is the one who changes the individual who is willing and ready to turn their life over to Him. We however, are used as his hands.
I helped Lucas, as the Lord directed. I find it very interesting how the Lord ended up showing that it was Him and never me. Lucas’s mom had told me a few weeks earlier that he was struggling as he was, yet it was only the night before that I made the decision to go visit him. It was not me, but God that prompted me, as Lucas was crying out for help.
I had planned to take my small Suzuki that morning - just to talk with him. My wife however, insisted that I drive her SUV. While driving, I was led to call Michael to go with me, and to call my mom to ask her to find a place for Lucas to stay if he was willing to return with me. Following God’s lead, I improvised. I am thankful that I allowed the Lord to lead, and in turn a life was changed forever.
Truth Ministry is used each day in people’s lives, and our financial partners play a big part. Another way lives are changed is by Truth equipping men and women to be used to help others. This past year, we had new men and women to join our leadership team. We had 106 new clients and many others continuing in their journey. Our web pages averaged nearly 14,000 monthly visitors who read of hope and freedom.
Concerning finances, last year we received $15,000 in grants. We had 10 church partnerships and 45 individual monthly partners. Twenty-eight of our donors contributed over $1000 last year, and 11 gave between $500 and $1000. Our total income was $135,137 which left us with a salary deficit of $21,040.
Times are tough, but hope is still alive! And we are excited about what the Lord has in store for us!
My question to you is this, “How is the Lord leading you after reading this?” We know that as we partner together, following His lead, lives - including yours and mine - will be changed. |
